SMART AUTOMATION GRANT GUIDELINES ADOPTED BY THE MADANI ECONOMY

section four: encouraging investment at home

ELIGIBLE EXPENDITURES

Each company is allowed a maximum of one million Ringgit Malaysia (RM1,000,000) in SAG Madani, and the funding is granted on a matching basis (70:30) for approved expenditures.

 

Eligible expenditures refer to the automation machine/ equipment/software* that are used directly in the overall value chain of manufacturing

and services activities.

The software that is embedded in machinery/equipment or used to perform specific

functions related to the company’s core activity.

Non-eligible expenditures

â–ª Purchase or rental of land / building / office / vehicles / furniture

â–ª Rental of automation machine/ equipment/ software

â–ª Purchase or rental of second-hand or refurbished automation machinery

equipment / software

â–ª Maintenance and repair costs including renovation of the premise

â–ª Wages paid to employees

â–ª Employee benefits programs

â–ª Legal and stamp duty fees

â–ª Insurance

â–ª Collateral or loan including its interest paid for purposes other than smart

automation

â–ª Office expenses and supplies including general-purpose computers &

peripherals and mobile phones

â–ª Utility expenses

â–ª Advertising and marketing expenses

â–ª Bank charges, cost of guarantees and similar charges

â–ª Debts and debt service charges

â–ª Any form of taxes and duties

â–ª Fines, financial penalties and expenses of litigation

â–ª Conversion cost, charges and exchange losses

**This list is not meant to be exhaustive and will be reviewed from time to time.

The company is not allowed to dispose of any machinery/ equipment/

software within the grant period.

  • *  The SAG MADANI plan has been granted RM100 million by the government.
    *  The SAG MADANI aims to do the following:
        Lending a helping hand to MSMEs in their efforts to digitalize and automate their  

  •      manufacturing and operations processes.
    *  Raising quality and efficiency in production and provision of services.
    *  Developing job openings in industries with strong potential for economic return.
    *  Fostering inward investment

  • The SAG MADANI would be given out on a matching basis (70:30) for qualified expenses, up to a maximum of RM1,000,000 per company.
